Deadly Drone Strike Hits Bus in Donetsk Region
Seven people were killed and eleven others injured when a drone struck a passenger bus in territory under Russian control in the Donetsk region. Denis Pushilin, the Kremlin-installed head of the area, confirmed the casualties. The incident underscores the risks faced by civilians in zones of active fighting.
Zelensky Highlights Shortfalls in Air Defence Systems
President Zelensky stated that Ukraine does not possess sufficient weapons to counter incoming Russian missiles and called on the United States to supply additional Patriot systems. He reported that more than seventy missiles and six hundred and fifty drones were launched overnight and warned that further large-scale attacks could follow. The Ukrainian leader also argued that Europe must develop its own anti-ballistic missile capabilities.
Drones Target Areas Near St Petersburg and Moscow
Three drones were intercepted over the Leningrad region as the St Petersburg International Economic Forum, sometimes referred to as the Russian Davos, prepared to open. Flights at Pulkovo airport faced restrictions during the incidents. Thirteen additional drones were brought down while heading towards Moscow.
Russia Imposes Entry Bans on British Nationals
The Russian foreign ministry has prohibited five British citizens from entering the country, including Washington Post journalist Catherine Belton and The i Paper correspondent Richard Holmes.
