Palestinian killed, 3 injured in Israeli strike in central Gaza Strip despite ceasefire
A Palestinian man was killed and three others, including a child, were injured in an Israeli drone strike near Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah on the fourth day of Eid al-Adha, despite a ceasefire in effect since October 2025.
Strike Near Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital
A Palestinian man identified as Jamal Abu Aoun was killed and three others, including a child, were injured when an Israeli drone struck civilians gathered near Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip. The incident occurred on Saturday, the fourth day of Eid al-Adha, according to a medical source who spoke to Anadolu Agency.
Additional Attacks Reported
Israeli artillery shelling separately targeted areas east and south of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip early Saturday. Another artillery strike hit the northeast section of al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, according to reports from the ground.
Ceasefire Violations Continue
The drone strike and artillery attacks took place despite a ceasefire agreement announced in October 2025. Palestinian authorities have documented repeated violations since the agreement took effect, disrupting daily life for families attempting to observe religious holidays such as Eid al-Adha.
Casualties Since Ceasefire
Since October 2025, Israeli attacks have killed 922 Palestinians and injured 2,786 others across the Gaza Strip, according to the Gaza Media Office. These figures reflect the ongoing impact on communities already strained by years of conflict.
Broader Context of the War
Israel launched its war on Gaza in October 2023. Palestinian figures indicate that more than 72,000 people have been killed and over 172,000 injured since then, with the majority being women and children. Hospitals such as Al-Aqsa Martyrs continue to receive victims amid limited resources.
Effects on Local Communities
Residents in Deir al-Balah, Khan Younis, and al-Bureij refugee camp face repeated disruptions to movement, medical access, and family gatherings during religious observances. The attacks compound economic hardship and psychological strain for families across central and southern Gaza.
