Bangkok Festival Brings 12 World-Class Epic Ballet and Opera Spectacles from Nine Nations

Announcement Brings Excitement to Bangkok

The 28th Bangkok International Festival of Dance & Music was announced on 5 June 2026 with a programme of 12 world-class productions from nine countries.

The festival will run from 5 September to 17 October at the Main Hall of the Thailand Cultural Centre.

Organisers stated that the programme will revitalise Thailand's performing arts scene by presenting opera, ballet, contemporary dance and multimedia performances.

Programme Blends Global Works with Thai Audiences

The festival aims to blend performing arts with music, fashion, contemporary culture and pop culture to create fresh experiences.

This approach brings world-class performances closer to Thai audiences at the Thailand Cultural Centre.

Twelve productions from nine countries form the core schedule across the September and October dates.

Opera Highlights from the United States and Russia

The New York City Opera from the United States makes its Thailand debut with Opera Goes to Hollywood, which combines operatic masterpieces with iconic film music.

The Helikon Opera from Russia presents La Traviata and Madama Butterfly performed by an international cast with a full live orchestra.

These opera productions form part of the festival's effort to deliver high-quality works to audiences in Bangkok.

Ballet Productions from Belarus, Russia and the Czech Republic

The Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus stages full-length productions of Romeo & Juliet and Cinderella with internationally recognised ballet performers and choreography.

The Eifman Ballet from Russia performs The Pygmalion Effect, a comedic ballet exploring identity and ambition, and Russian Hamlet, which depicts political intrigue through Boris Eifman's choreography.

The National Theatre Brno of the Czech Republic presents Coco Chanel, a contemporary ballet on the life of the fashion designer.

Contemporary and Family-Friendly Works

French choreographer Sadeck Berrabah brings Murmuration Level 2, known for its synchronised movement, to the Thailand Cultural Centre stage.

Brazil's Deborah Colker Dance Company presents RITE, a contemporary reinterpretation of Igor Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring.

Audience members can also see Alice in Wonderland, which combines acrobatics, circus arts and contemporary dance in a family-friendly spectacle.

The Great Gatsby appears through live music, dance and theatrical performance that evokes the Jazz Age and the American Dream.

Tickets and Access at Thailand Cultural Centre

Tickets go on sale through Thai Ticket Major with prices ranging from 2,000 to 6,000 baht depending on the performance and seating.

Select premium seats carry higher prices for the shows running from 5 September to 17 October.

The full programme appears on the festival's official website for planning visits to the Main Hall.

Support for Thailand's Performing Arts Sector

Founded in 1999, the Bangkok International Festival of Dance & Music has become one of Thailand's leading international performing arts festivals.

Its mission centres on giving Thai audiences access to high-quality productions while supporting the development of Thailand's performing arts sector.

The 2026 edition continues this work by presenting 12 productions that connect global companies with local cultural growth in Bangkok.

Southeast Asian readers gain insight into how such events strengthen regional arts connections through shared performances at the Thailand Cultural Centre.
