Hezbollah Launches 32 Attacks on Israeli Positions in Single Day — Escalation Continues
Hezbollah announced on Tuesday that it had carried out 32 separate attacks on Israeli troops and positions along the Lebanon-Israel border, marking one of the most intense days of fighting since the current escalation began.
The attacks, which included rocket fire, drone strikes, and anti-tank guided missiles, targeted military positions in the disputed Shebaa Farms area and along the Blue Line. Hezbollah said the operations were in response to Israeli aggression and in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The Israeli military confirmed multiple attacks along the northern border, reporting that several soldiers were injured and that damage was caused to military infrastructure. In response, Israeli artillery and aircraft struck Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, causing casualties on the Lebanese side.
The escalation raises the risk of a broader conflagration that neither side claims to want but both seem unable to prevent. Since the beginning of the current crisis, the Israel-Lebanon border has seen near-daily exchanges of fire, with Hezbollah steadily increasing the tempo and sophistication of its attacks.
For the civilians on both sides of the border, the situation is increasingly dire. Entire communities in northern Israel have been evacuated. In southern Lebanon, villages near the border have emptied as residents flee the fighting. International mediators have been working frantically to negotiate a truce, but so far without success.
"Every day that passes without a ceasefire brings us closer to a war that nobody can afford," a UN official said.
