13 Teens Arrested After Major Brawl on Montreal's South Shore
Thirteen teenagers have been arrested following a series of violent incidents that erupted in the Quartier Dix30 area of Brossard on Montreal's South Shore, police confirmed on Wednesday.
The arrests followed a major brawl that involved dozens of youths, with reports of weapons being brandished and property damage in the popular shopping and entertainment district. Police were called to the scene just after 9 PM on Tuesday evening and encountered a chaotic scene with multiple fights breaking out simultaneously.
"This was a significant disturbance that required a substantial police response," said a spokesperson for the Longueuil Police Service. "We have 13 individuals in custody and are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to this incident."
The accused range in age from 14 to 17 years old, and they face charges that could include assault, possession of a weapon, and participating in a riot. They are scheduled to appear in youth court in the coming days.
The Quartier Dix30 area is a major commercial hub on Montreal's South Shore, known for its shopping centres, restaurants, and entertainment venues. The incident has raised concerns among local residents and business owners about safety in the area.
Police have not ruled out additional arrests as their investigation continues, and they are reviewing surveillance footage to identify other individuals who may have been involved.
