PBS News Weekly: The Israel-Hamas War | Feb. 16, 2024
The war between Israel and Hamas has passed the four-month mark. This week, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is at its worst in Rafah. This comes as Israel sent special forces into city to rescue two hostages being held by Hamas. 70 people were killed during the operation according to Palestinian authorities.
President Joe Biden hosted Jordan’s King Abdullah at the White House this week, as the Arab leader pushed for an end to the war. His comments came as tensions escalated on Israel’s northern border with Iran-backed Hezbollah, which operates out of southern Lebanon. The violence increased, as around 80,000 residents of the north continue to be displaced.
