It is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required.* **Location:** Rapid City, SD **Job Summary:** The Parks and Recreation Department is looking for an upbeat and dynamic Ice Skating Instructor to bring joy and skill to the ice! If you have a passion for ice skating and love to teach, your next great adventure awaits on our rinks! **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** * Conducts skating lessons to groups and individual children and adults. * Monitors and records student progress to determine proper class placement. * Enforces rink safety regulations and department policies and procedures to prevent accidents and maintain order. * Responds to emergency situations and assist skaters in distress utilizing established rescue techniques up to and including AED and/or CPR. * Administers first aid to injuries suffered by skaters following the appropriate safety protocols. * Will enforce evacuation procedures if necessary due to medical or weather emergencies on the ice. * Keep patrons and students informed of rink rules and regulations. May perform custodial services to maintain a clean and orderly facility. * **Qualifications:** * Must be 14 years or older. * Must have ice skating experience. Previous teaching or instruction experience preferred. * CPR or First Aide certification preferred. Must have the ability to stand and/or skate for long periods. An employee will frequently be required to skate, bend, squat, kneel, climb stairs, use hand and finger dexterity, use eye-to-hand coordination, and lift. An employee will occasionally be required to balance, run, push, pull, and crawl. * **Work Environment:** * This position will work primarily indoors on and around the ice rink, in the skate room, or at stations within the arena. May need to lift objects up to 40 lbs. The climate will range from cold to room temperature.
