**POSITION SUMMARY**
The Mechanical Engineer will design structural, electrical, hydraulic, and plumbing systems. They will assist warranties/customer service with technical issues. The Mechanical Engineer will work with production to troubleshoot issues on the floor. Also, they will manage engineering and research & development projects as needed*.*
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
All employees are required to support Rosenbauer’s Mission, Vision, and Values.The following are the essential duties of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer.
* Designs structural, electrical, hydraulic, and plumbing systems.
* Assists warranties/customer service with technical issues.
* Works with production to troubleshoot issues on the floor.
* Manages engineering and research & development projects as needed.
* Communicates with upfront sales to validate design options.
* Any other duties as assigned.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES**
***QUALIFICATIONS***
**Required Education:**
* High School Diploma/GED.
* Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
**Preferred Education:**
* None.
**Required Experience:**
* Experience with SolidWorks, Sheet Metal, Welding, and Hydraulics.
* Knowledge in technical systems.
**Preferred Experience:**
* Experience with Electrical AC & DC.
**Position Requirements:**
* Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
* Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
* Must be able to professionally work with customers and vendors.
* Routinely read through and follow specs.
* Able to read a tape measure accurately and precisely.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Proficient in your ability to manage multiple and diverse projects, including analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, problem solving, decision making, and carrying out assigned projects with minimal supervision.
* Adaptable and versatile.
* Must be able to work with SolidWorks and AutoCAD to complete job duties.
* Be able to transfer paper to reality.
* Able to follow verbal and written instructions.
* Strong technical aptitude.
* Ability to evaluate designs, to requirements, utilizing advanced analysis and computer simulations.
* Adhere to all company policies.
**Language Skills:**
* Ability to read, reason and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
* Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
**Mathematical Skills:**
* Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
* Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
**Reasoning Ability:**
* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
* Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
**Computer Skills:**
* Knowledge of SolidWorks, Microsoft Office, and AutoCAD.
**Decision Making:**
* Responsibilities are guided by a general set of policies or objectives.
* There is considerable freedom to make decisions within these policies or objectives.
* Work is periodically reviewed to determine if objectives have been met.
**WORKING CONDITIONS**
This position is in an office/general shop and sometimes outside, and it has access to all welfare facilities. In some cases, the temperature can be warmer or colder depending on the season. Most of the hazards come from machines but following proper procedures should minimize risk. This position will be exposed to the elements and will have to prepare themselves with the right equipment to ensure safety.
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**
This position requires sitting, standing and walking for the majority of the shift. During shifts, some projects require the use of feet, hands, and fingers for over 60 minutes at a time. Depending on the season, different protective apparel will be required. The use of knees, legs, back, shoulders, and arms can vary from 15 minutes to 60 minutes. This position requires reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling to complete job tasks. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and good depth perception. All positions require the ability to lift 50 pounds.
