The office manages the full UI lifecycle, including employer tax collection, benefit claims processing, fraud prevention, and appeals*



*This position reviews, interprets, and applies Unemployment Insurance (UI) Employment Security Law in the maintenance of unemployment insurance tax accounts for approximately 100,000 employers. The position exercises independent judgment and ensures compliance with state and federal laws and generally accepted accounting principles.*



*The duties directly impact the UI Accounting Program and require providing customer service while maintaining a basic knowledge of Tax Operations areas, including Employer Status, Experience Rating, Benefit Charges, Delinquent Accounts, Tax Adjustments, the Employer Tax Call Center, Monetary Reconsiderations, and Field Audit.*



**AN IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING COMPETENCIES:*** **Making Accurate Judgments:** The ability to assess options, weigh risks, and make sound decisions using available information and logical reasoning.
* **Managing Resources:** The ability to manage financial, physical, and contractual resources to ensure compliance and maximize business value.
* **Thinking Critically:** The ability to analyze information objectively, identify connections across sources, and form logical, well-supported conclusions.

**Minimum Qualifications**
--------------------------

Three years of experience in unemployment insurance, workforce development programs, workers’ compensation, administrative services, or social services; OR



Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR



A bachelor’s degree.



EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

**Job Details:**

* Provides taxpayer assistance by handling employer account issues, wage reporting discrepancies, and incoming inquiries from employers and third-party representatives.
* Researches and applies UI tax and benefits laws to respond to employer protests, correspondence, and benefit charge inquiries.
* Assists employers with delinquent notices, overpayment notices, rate notices, account updates, and wage file upload support.
* Maintains and updates Power of Attorney (POA) records for authorized employer representatives.
* Processes agency portal payments and corrects misapplied payments to ensure accurate employer account records.
