PSEi snaps four-day losing streak | ANC
May 22, 2026 • CNN Philippines
The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) ended its four-day losing streak Wednesday, buoyed by investor optimism over signs of de-escalation in Middle East tensions. The benchmark climbed 1.12 percent, or 72.45 points, to close at 6,512.38, while the broader All Shares index gained 0.89 percent to 3,478.21.
Trading volume reached 1.82 billion shares valued at P8.9 billion. Most sectors advanced, led by financials, industrials, and holding firms. Property and mining and oil shares also posted gains, while services ended slightly lower.
Analysts said easing geopolitical concerns reduced risk aversion, encouraging bargain hunting after recent declines triggered by higher global oil prices and regional uncertainty. The market had shed nearly 3 percent over the previous four sessions amid worries over supply disruptions.
Foreign investors turned net buyers, recording P412 million in inflows. Despite the rebound, analysts cautioned that sentiment remains fragile and will hinge on further developments in the Middle East and upcoming local economic data, including inflation and remittances figures due next week.
