CNC3's 7PM Bulletin Highlights Fresh Crime Surge and Community Resilience

Earlier today, CNC3 delivered its usual 7PM news package with a sharp focus on rising criminal activity across central Trinidad. Viewers tuning in last night were met with stark images and on-the-ground reporting that painted a sobering picture of the past 24 hours.

Night-time Robberies Shake Couva and Surrounding Areas

Residents in Couva awoke to news that three separate home invasions occurred between midnight and 4 a.m. this morning. Police confirmed that armed men targeted houses along the Southern Main Road, making off with cash, jewellery and electronic devices.

One victim, speaking on condition of anonymity, described the terrifying ordeal. "They came in the dark, just like that. We are still shaken," she told CNC3 reporters at the scene.

Officers from the Couva Police Station have launched an immediate investigation. They believe the same group may be responsible for similar incidents in Chaguanas last week.

Traffic Chaos on the Solomon Hochoy Highway

Commuters faced major delays this morning after a multi-vehicle collision near the Claxton Bay interchange. The accident, which happened around 7:30 a.m., involved a public transport maxi and two private cars.

Emergency services worked swiftly to clear the wreckage. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported, though several persons were treated for minor injuries at the San Fernando General Hospital.

CNC3's traffic correspondent noted that the highway remains a hotspot for reckless driving, urging motorists to exercise greater caution during peak hours.

Government Responds to Public Outcry Over Cost of Living

In other headlines, the Minister of Finance addressed mounting concerns about rising food prices. Speaking at a press briefing this afternoon, he outlined new measures aimed at easing the burden on low-income households.

Subsidies on certain staple items are expected to kick in within the next fortnight. Opposition members, however, criticised the move as "too little, too late," calling for more structural reforms instead.

Local Fete Season Brings Much-Needed Cheer

Despite the heavier stories, the bulletin also showed vibrant scenes from a community fete held in Gasparillo last night. Hundreds turned out to enjoy live music, local cuisine and plenty of bacchanal under the stars.

Organisers expressed gratitude for the peaceful atmosphere, noting that such events help strengthen community bonds in challenging times.

The 7PM News on CNC3 continues to serve as a vital source of information for Trinbagonians, blending hard-hitting journalism with stories that reflect the heartbeat of our nation.
